High-speed cutting is nothing new. What is new, though, is that it is now possible to use it for blanks in series production while still remaining competitive. EDGE largely developed the method, applied for a patent for aluminium blanks in 2013 and has also had a PCT application for high-speed steel cutting pending since 2020.
